Naturwerkstatt Hinterseer in Lofer

Welcome to Naturwerkstatt Hinterseer in Lofer (Salzburg, Austria). We are Thulfiqar Obaidi and Juliana Hinterseer – and we combine traditional knowledge of incense burning with careful handcraftsmanship, genuine connection to origin, and personal consultation.

Our Story: Between the Alps and the Orient

Sometimes a path unfolds quietly. When I came to Lofer, I quickly felt that this place has something special: the mountains, the nature, the peace and quiet—and Juliana, who grew up in the 650-year-old farmhouse where her parents founded Naturwerkstatt Hinterseer over 30 years ago. Without many words, but with deep trust in nature and what it gives us.

Juliana: I grew up with incense burning, nature right on my doorstep, and a fine sense for what is genuine and beautiful. For me, it’s simply part of life.

Thulfiqar: I’m from Baghdad and studied pharmacology in Cairo. Plants, resins, herbs, and their effects have always fascinated me. Between the Alps and the Orient, something completely natural has emerged. Juliana brings her creativity, her love of nature, and her sense for authenticity. I contribute my knowledge of pharmacology and herbal medicine, and together we share a deep respect for the natural healing power of plants.

At the heart of what we do is Hojari frankincense from southern Oman—the rarest and purest frankincense in the world. Its delicate, citrusy scent and health-promoting effects are unique. I know the people in Salalah very well; we select it with the utmost care. This closeness to its origin is, for us, a responsibility and a true appreciation for nature and the people.

Why is all of this so important to us?

Because you can feel when something is created with love and mindfulness. And because nature often gives us exactly what we truly need right now—no more and no less. With our products, we want to remind you of exactly that.
